L’amour, l’amour, et encore l’amour. It’s beautiful to be able to express love in different languages.

I speak five languages, Créole, French, English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. The more I learn Brazilian Portuguese the more I fall in love with the language. It’s so beautiful.

When I was younger I wanted to live in Brazil for a few months or a few years. I believe that their culture is a bit similar to mine. When I was in high school I learned Portuguese for one year, not enough to really enjoy speaking the language.

I’ve been twice in Portugal with the Portuguese side of my family, but the way they speak is different. Not the same accent.

One of the desires of my heart was to learn how to dance Samba. This dream came true when I joined Paraiso School of Samba in London. Also, I had the opportunity to perform with the school in Notting Hill Carnival one year. I was so happy wearing my beautiful costume. What an experience!

Last year, I felt it was the right time to learn how to speak Brazilian Portuguese. I speak French and Spanish, so it does help when I speak Brazilian Portuguese because the words are similar. I have two classes a week with a Brazilian teacher.

It really opens a new world when you speak another language. You have access to so many things. It changes the way you see the world. I feel more connected with people all around the world because I understand their culture. I cannot explain the feeling that I have when I learn a new language. It’s like opening your eyes again for the first time. The world is more colourful.

A couple of days ago, I found a beautiful song about love.
